foel-tower--by-harry-thumbnailPark guests are welcome to fish the Ithon along the park stretch or we are able for a modest fee offer a further five miles fishing along the river. In Llandrindod Wells there is the lake and other privately owned lakes and reservoirs that can be fished on a daily ticket.

Numerous public footpaths radiate away from the campsite and the whole county of Powys is criss-crossed with public rights of way for the serious rambler and cyclists.

The park is watched over by St Cewydd's a popular tourist pilgrimage in its own right as it boasts a wealth of history and myth and interesting wooden boxed pews.

River Ithon at DisserthNearby to the north is Llandrindod Wells once frequented by the Victorians for the 'spa waters' remembered today with the annual August Bank Holiday Victorian Festival! Close to the south lies Builth Wells and the adjacent showground where the Welsh Agricultural Show (Royal Welsh Show) is held in July along with numerous other established annual events. Builth also boasts the Wyeside theatre and cinema.

At Rhayader is the Elan Valley with its series of dams and reservoirs which are fully depicted at the popular visitor centre. Also at Rhayader is Gilgrin Farm Red Kite feeding station where the birds are fed daily at 3pm.

Surrounding this is a wealth of majestic scenery and peaceful countryside begging discovery and on a hot sunny day the seaside is under an hour away, in fact the only missing ingredient missing from this Heart of Wales recipe is you...
