From Disserth you can go fishing in the River Ithon or the lake in Llandrindod Wells. For walkers the whole county of Powys is criss-crossed with public rights of way.

Llandrindod Wells hosts the annual 'Victorian Festival' and down the road in Builth Wells is the 'Welsh Agricultural Show' (Royal Welsh Show). Builth also boasts the Wyeside theatre and cinema. At Rhayader is the Elan Valley with its series of dams and reservoirs and the Gilgrin Farm Red Kite feeding station.
